LyX is an open-source document processor and editor for the LaTeX document markup language. As a GUI front end to the LaTeX typesetting system, LyX makes it easy to create complex, structured TeX documents by using GUI menu bars and pre-defined document classes/layouts. It comes with integrated WYSIWYG math/table/image editor, bibliographic database and BibTeX support, automatic spell-checker and text completion, change tracking, multi-format document importer/converter (TeX, PDF, Postscript, ASCII, HTML, ODP, RTF, MS Word), and multi-language support (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Hebrew). LyX can be integrated with external version control systems (Subversion, Git, CVS, RCS) for collaborative editing.
